We love a bit of experimentation, testing out different paintings at our wine and paint party events to always keep things fresh. That being said, we often get requests to teach some of our old favourites, and we’re always game to revisit a classic. Our back catalogue of paintings is one of the reasons Art in Bloom throws the best wine and paint parties.
Here are our most popular paintings!
1. Van Gogh’s Starry Night
The original Van Gogh may reside at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, but you can take home your own version at one of our wine and paint events! Easily our most popular painting, this dark and stormy masterpiece is surprisingly simple to achieve – we’ve seen some mighty convincing approximations of its genius in our painting classes (including our always lively BYO wine and paint party events!).
2. Piha Sunset
You don’t need to drive out to Auckland’s rugged West Coast to catch a glimpse of this gorgeous vista. Come along to an Art in Bloom wine and paint party and capture it forever on canvas! It’s the perfect weekend activity in Auckland.
The orange and purple create a compelling contrast, and the iconic Lion Rock extending proudly toward the heavens looks magnificent on any wall.
3. Rangitoto
This one makes an especially good gift for visiting family, with it’s classic Kiwiana feel. While the views up Rangitoto are a must-see, it looks almost as majestic from afar. The pohutukawa branch extending out in front gives it an extra splash of colour and local flavour.
4. Falling Leaves
Japan’s annual cherry blossom festival attracts hordes of tourists from all over the world every year. This striking pink and blue creation brings the cherry blossom festival into your living room. Try new experiences, make new friends, and have a souvenir to take home. It’s the next best thing to travelling there for real.
5. Galaxy Forest
No, it’s not a new flavour of chocolate bar. This epic looking skyline is a favourite of wine and paint attendees in part due to the very cool (and easily mastered) technique we use to get that realistic star effect. What is it, you ask? Head along to a paint ‘n’ sip event to find out!
6. Autumn Walk
Summer gets all the attention, but we’re big fans of autumn as an underrated pick for the best season. Capture the ineffable magic of autumn on canvas and carry it with you always.
7. Claude Monet’s Water Lilies
Monet’s famed Water Lilies series is comprised of 250 classic works that have found homes in the hallowed halls of top galleries across the globe. We’ll teach you how to paint like the beloved French impressionist, and do it with a glass of wine in hand for good measure!
